I have a st-8300c sbig that was probably damaged by a lightning strike that hit the observatory several months ago. When I connect the power supply to 12 volts, the fan turns correctly and the red LED make a very fast flashing, but the camera is no longer recognized by the computer and the LED remains off. What can I do to understand the damage suffered? Thank you and happy new years to all. Massimo (Italy)
The USB interface may be damaged. It's also possible that the computer's USB port was damaged, so try the camera on a different port first - preferably on a different computer (with drivers installed!). If it still does not work then it will probably have to go in to Bill at SBIG Service & Repair - contact bill@sbig.com
Thank you Doug, I have just tried with two other computer, but the camera doesn't work. So I will contact Bill for the repair. Massimo.
