I have just updated 2 x STXL11002 cameras with the driverchecker and see that sbigudrv.dll is now at version 5.1.1.0 dated 06.04.24 - this update was applied to both cameras in the last 48 hours and now neither of then will cool. Cooling starts, then the cooler is either turned off or ramps down to 0% They were perfectly fine before this update! please advise Martin
We have had zero reports of a problem - sbigudrv.dll version 5.1.1.0 was produced nearly three years ago, on 2022-01-26. The file date 06.24.24 is from a change to a file on our server. Do you know what versions you were running previously? Power cycle everything. Check the firmware version in the camera, as a discrepancy between it and the drivers could cause an issue.
I cant recall the previous version, but the firmware is current. I have ALWAYS been able to go from ambient to -25degs with all of my SBIG cameras until I updated the driver 2 days ago. Now, after just a few seconds of starting the cool down, the cooler is turned off.
Update.....Only a third party ASCOM driver for the camera now allows it to cool. It no longer works in TSX64 with the native drivers.
We haven't changed anything in the drivers. Are you using our power cables, or third party cables? If the voltage drops too much the coolers will shut down to protect themselves. That's been a common problem with third party through-the-mount cabling.
one camera is powered directly by an SBIG power brick and SBIG cable. The other is plugged into a Pegasus Astro Ultimate Power Box....input voltage when cooling remains above 13v. As I mentioned, these are now cooling but with a third party ASCOM driver, not the native drivers in TSX.
Perhaps it is a TSX issue then? The SBIG Universal drivers are no longer under maintenance - we haven't touched them in over two years, and haven't touched anything related to cooling in far longer.
Hang on a second - TheSky X 64 bit ships with an x64 driver that we did for them and other developers. The TSX installer is responsible for putting it onto the system, and it may be in their path not the Windows system folders. You may need to do a repair install on TSX, or manually deploy the file. You can get it here: https://cdn.diffractionlimited.com/downloads/sbigudrv-5.0.2.0-vc141-x64.zip
I did a bit of digging. C:\Program Files (x86)\Software Bisque\TheSkyX Professional Edition\TheSky64 has SBIGUDrv.dll version 4.9.9 build 8 Found here: https://cdn.diffractionlimited.com/downloads/SBIGUDrv.v4.9.9.8-vc141.x64.zip That DLL would have been compatible with 4.9.9 build 7 of the SBIG Driver Checker files. SO... you could remove the SBIG Driver Checker drivers, uninstall it, remove all evidence of the SBIG Driver Checker from Program Files (x86)\SBIG, and reinstall, and then update drivers but tell it NO, don't download from the internet, so that it will use the built-in 4.9.9 Build 7. I don't think this is necessary, but I have no way to know what is going on with your system.
