Good day. We are experiencing a technical problem with our SBIG STT-8300MM CCD camera when we installing it, and its accompanying software (CCDOps5, SBIGDriverChecker64) on a new desktop computer. CCDOps5 keeps on crashing upon setting up the camera. We tried re-installing everything as implied in the manual and the problem persists. Upon checking and updating the drivers using SBIGDriverChecker64, we came across this prompt stating "Please don't update your firmware unless the camera has a problem or advised by customer support. Do you really want to update firmware inside your camera?" We are not sure of what we are going to do so we ask for your advice. Thank you very much in advance! Clear skies.
First of all, download and install the latest version of SBIGDriverChecker and CCDOPS directly from our web site. If you are installing the software that came with the camera it is out-of-date. Recent SBIGDriverChecker versions has improvements that make it much less likely to "brick" your camera upon firmware update. Go to http://diffractionlimited.com/product/stt-8300/ and click the Downloads tab. Then proceed with firmware and driver updates. If after updating everything you are still having trouble, post a follow-up here and we'll investigate. We might need to remote in to your system.
