Greetings to the Diffraction Limited collective.... A question to ask the group After an initial setup…will I have to use a laptop again if I decide to use the auto-guider for any other night of Astro imagery? Or is the initial setup a "one time operation"? Looking forward to a response. The only good photon...is an old photon
According to the manual, available here: http://diffractionlimited.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/operating_manual_for_sg-4_autoguider.pdf "The main attribute of the SG-4 is that, once setup and focused with a PC, a computer is not needed. This is what SBIG means by Stand-Alone operation." So presuming your SG-4 is focused, and connected to your telescope properly, you should not need a computer to control the guider after that point.
