I am using the SG-4 RS 232 cable with USB-2 converter during set up. The test indicates a 9600 baud rate. The download of a single image takes several minutes. Is this typical? If so, I assume things will go faster once I try to focus on a star by zooming in.
You can increase the baud rate. Refer to the user manual. http://diffractionlimited.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/operating_manual_for_sg-4_autoguider.pdf
I assumed from the manual (page 6) that it would automatically find the fastest rate during test. I used the settings drop down menu as per your recommendation. I'm now functioning at the highest rate. Thanks for the response.
I think you misinterpreted what the manual says. If the software doesn't immediately find the SG-4, it tries all available baud rates until it connects. That's in case you change the baud rate but the software doesn't have the same setting.
