I have an SG-4 Autoguider which works great, but I'd like to remote control my astrophotography setup so that I don't need to baby-sit or venture out into the cold as much. The remote setup will consist of a INDI based RPi controlling the imaging DLSR, the mount, and the focuser. I'll have a Mac/PC controlling the RPi via Ethernet or Wifi from inside the house. Is it possible to communicate to the SG-4 through either the I2C or RS-232 connector to reset the autoguider Guide On/Off button? The SG-4 manual says the I2C connector is intended for "future expansion" so I'm hopeful that this was intended? Also, what output was intended for the external LED power connector? I suppose I could wire a solution to the push button itself but if the I2C connector is capable of doing this it would be a cleaner solution. Thanks, -Dave
The serial protocol for the SG-4 is documented. It's available on the Downloads tab of the product page. Direct link: http://diffractionlimited.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/SG4_AllSky-340_SerialSpec.pdf
