I have a Planewave 20" with an STXL11002 and FW8GSTXL . After mounting a new AOX and adjusting the spacing to the chip I believe I get this oval artifact that is independent of rotator position. Is this vignetting? The oval shape has me puzzled.

    That's... weird.

My best guess is that there's an obstruction of some kind in the light path. Like a baffle fell off and is sitting at an angle. Or something like that.

Thanks Doug. I removed the baffle tube and all looks well. I've narrowed the effect to when the AO-X is activated. When I remove power to the unit, it disappears. So there's that.

Pull the unit off the telescope so you can look at it, and run the exercise function. Make sure it tilts correctly to all four positions.
