We recently purchased an AO-X system to accompany a STX + FW-7 setup at our campus observatory. We have updated SkyX to the latest version and installed all of the latest SBIG drivers through the SBIG driver checker. Still, we are having a unique problem.

Following the setup instructions from autoguiding with adaptive optics from the SkyX manual, we've selected "SBIG with AO" as our camera and "SBIG Imager's built-in autoguider" as our autoguider. The problem that we are now seeing is that our filter wheel (FW-7) won't accept move commands. Moving to a new filter results in a timeout error. Similarly, because it can't move the filter wheel, just taking an image with the camera also times out in SkyX.

Interestingly, both moving the filter wheel and taking an image with the camera work perfectly in Maxim-DL so it's clearly a software or driver issue.

Any insight? Has anyone seen something similar?

What versoin of TheSky X specifically and which operating system are you running it on?
What do you have the filter wheel set to? eg FW7-STX or SBIG Auto CFW ?
Have you contacted Software Bisque? This really is their issue if it is working in MaxIm DL.
