    Hi,

I have an STT-8300M camera and need the Gain in e-/DN. I also need the Gaussian noise in DN and the Offset in DN. Could someone provide these numbers for me please?

From what I’ve read, ADU and DN are the same. Is this correct?

Also, from what I’ve read, the gain of this camera is 0.37 in e-/ADU. My FITS header information shows it as 0.39.

    Which is correct?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    ADU: Analog to Digital Unit
    DN: Digital Number
    Basically the same thing.

The specifications for the camera give you a typical value for photoelectrons per ADU (e-/ADU). Each camera is slightly different, due to small differences in the CCD sensor. The value is measured when the camera is manufactured and programmed into its internal EEPROM memory. Whenever you take an image, that number is recorded in the FITS header as the EGAIN value. So the 0.39 value in your FITS header is the correct value for your camera.

    Thanks Doug!

Do you know what the Gaussian noise and offset values are for this camera?

I'll need the serial number to look it up.

    Test results from your camera:

    Average offset 959 ADU
    Gain 0.39 e-/ADU
    Read Noise 10.41 e-
    Dark Current 0.02 e-/pix/sec @ -10C
