    Hello,
I have a problem with my ST-4000XCM camera.
the temperature does not fall below 0 ° C, and the fan does not work and the red lamp (Red led) is always off.
Thanks and I appreciate any assistance anyone can offer me.

Sounds like it needs to go in for service. Bill Lynch at SBIG Service & Repair can help you. His contact is bill@sbig.com.

    thanks for the response.
actually, it's impossible to send this camera to the repair service because i live very far from any repair shop.
does the failure of the external fan prevent the cooling of the sensor ? in another way, replacing the fan can lower the temperature further ?

If it's simply that the fan is seized up, then replacing it will restore your cooling. If it's something more than that, then it won't. Certainly worth a shot.

hoping it's just the fan. but I will replace it to check.
there is also the desiccant that i can't check if it will be the cause of the problem.

A saturated desiccant won't stop it from cooling. The chip will frost over.

    good evening Mr Doug,
I replaced the fan with an external power supply, but I want to know the direction of the air, is it from the outside to the inside, or the opposite ?
I placed it in the direction where the air enters the box but the temperature stabilizes at approximately -13 ° C.
    thanks for your help
    Best regards

    It blows into the camera.

    External power supply??? That's unnecessary.

I am obliged to supply it externally because there is no voltage (or low voltage) at the level of the pins located on the electronic card.
it's just for test to check if the fan is the cause of the issue.

but , what prevents the cooling to reach less than -13 ° C?

Probably the internal power supply has failed, as evidenced by the lack of fan power.

Your camera needs repairs. Contact Bill bill@sbig.com for service.
