Hopefully I have reached the right forum to ask for help/opinion since I have never had to ask in the past.
I bought this camera new in the fall of 2006 and it has been my workhorse ever since. With the exception of a bad capacitor years ago, this camera and software has performed flawlessly all this time. Right now I am running TSX64 as the camera control on a Dell Optiplex 960 (8g ram) WIN10 Pro. Recently, I have been getting random "SBIG driver: device not found" error 30027 during the middle of an imaging run using CCDAP. The ST-8XME uses the AO-8 and CFW-10 as well.

If I understand this error, it means TSX64 has lost connection with the camera. I have to close TSX64 then restart TSX64 and then I can reconnect the camera until the error returns again. What are the likely culprits for this error? Is it:

    1. Power management settings-I did go in and select "Disable" for USB selctive suspend setting this morning
    2. Not enough RAM? I see TSX64 "likes" to have 16g of RAM but I don't know if a lower amount of RAM affects connectivity. Didn't know that until this morning either.
    3. I haven't touched the drivers for a long time since everything worked. It would appear that there are updated drivers. Even though the camera is old, does the ST-8 need updated drivers? My current drivers are below.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris, officially, we don't support the ST-8 any more.
That said, here's a few suggestions:

All the resources for it are here:
    https://diffractionlimited.com/legacy-product-support/

The correct spot on the forum is here:
    https://forum.diffractionlimited.com/forums/legacy-models-community-support.53/

    Try this:

Unplug the camera. (both USB and power).
Remove the drivers using the [Remove] button.
    Uninstall the driver checker.
Download the latest version of driver checker here:
    https://cdn.diffractionlimited.com/downloads/SetupDriverChecker64.exe
    Install it.
    Update the drivers using it.

Try using the 32-bit version of TheSky X. Make sure you have Software Bisque's latest daily build as they continue to improve the software.

I think Software Bisque TSX 64-bit is not using the SBIGUDRV.DLL that comes with the driver checker. Instead, I think they have somewhere in their installation a 64-bit driver version we did for them.
That driver may not be compatible with the old version you have.
So by updating, I think it may work.

Make sure the camera is showing up in the Device Manager. Error 27 indicates that it can't open the system driver.

My apologies for placing this in the wrong forum.

Colin-I just completed your suggestion. I'll give it a go when the skies clear. Hopefully that solves the issue. This issue has only cropped up after the switch to TSX64. If it occurs again, I'll try TSX32 and see if the error returns.

Doug-The camera has always connected upon start up so I assume it always shows up in the Device Manager. It throws that message deep into the imaging run.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I just want to close this out in case anyone else has this issue and pulls up this thread.

I upgraded my computer (old one was at least 10+ years old) so I am now running 32g of RAM and a more robust processor. I upgraded to the current SBIG drivers. I disabled Power Management on all USB ports. So far, after numerous imaging runs over several nights, the old camera has worked without issue using TSX64.

    Thanks for all the help.
