    Hello all,

yesterday, my glorious ST-8XME camera, providing service for almost 15 years or more, stopped working. Since the beginning of the session, I obtained blank images. A few days ago, it worked perfectly.

Other than that, the camera is working: the cooler works, the guiding sensor produces the typical image, the red led on the rear blinks, the readout time is as always, depending on the binning and so on.

I have an ST-7XME working camera and I was wondering if, in principle, the working part on the ST-7 can be moved on the ST-8.

My hopes come from the fact that the ST-? family was modular and one could upgrade the chip anytime.

I wonder if the readout on both cameras is managed by the same electronics, if so, I have hope to have it fixed.

Any input/suggestion would be very precious.

    Thanks
    Gianluca Masi

    Gianluca,

The all zero images do indicate a hardware failure in your camera.

Yes, it is likely possible to assemble a working camera using parts from the two units. That said, since Bill retired from repairing the older cameras we no longer have any in-house experience working with them.
