I have am intermittent problem with my ST-i guide camera. On some nights the guide stars show up as a horizontal band. The banding starts on the left left side at the row position of the star and stretches to the right. I can reset the camera use different imaging software, reset the computer and the problem remains. The next night I go out and the problem is completely gone. I can't be the only one with this problem so I'm posting this thread to find help

    Thanks
    Remie

I'm thinking maybe the shutter isn't working reliably, and it's possible that this depends on the orientation of the camera. The next time this happens try rotating the camera in the focuser, to see if gravity affects the results. That might explain why some nights it works and some nights it doesn't. If you do find the orientation matters, pop the camera off and look at the shutter operating as you rotate the camera around.

If this is in fact the case, then I'm afraid the camera needs to go in for repairs.

Thanks for the reply. I have rotated the camera with no effect. I have also looked into the camera to imake sure the shutter isn't misbehaving.

Could it be a power issue with the usb not providing enough current?

Perhaps. Try a different hub, or better yet avoid using one altogether.

I have been all over the forum trying to get to the thread you suggested. I don't think its available to a "Standard User".

Also I have attached an image of my issue.

You should be able to access the FAQ....I have corrected the permissions so standard users can access it.

Ok, we are getting close. I can now get to the thread for advanced configuration page. I still get and error when I try to open the screen shots as shown below:

    Thank you, it now works.

Is there documentation on the range of ST-I gain values for the advanced configuration screens?

    I believe a nominal gain is .52
