Windows 8.1 and SBIG ST-i camera are not recognized by MaxIm DL v6.08 or CCDOps. Latest SBIG drivers are installed and camera is connected directly to the computer without a USB hub. Windows detectcs the camera and installs the drivers correctly.

Can you try it on a different PC? If it works there then we'll know it's just a computer configuration problem.

If it doesn't work on another computer then it may need to come back for service.

    Eli,
you should do more tests before sending it back.

    1) Which driver did you install ? If you use one from CD ROM comming with your camera, there may be a problem.
You should go to http://www.sbig.com/support/software/ and download Windows DriverChecker64 from that side,
then run it as an administrator.

    2) Do you hear, for example, four shutter clicks when you connect your ST-i to the PC ?

    3) Also, please follow our "How To" with the CCDOps and check if its EEPROM is not corrupted. You should see ST-i model,
if not, select it and write to the EEPROM.

I am not saying this have to solve this problem, but I would try it first.
