According to UPS tracking system, I'm should get my new camera today. A couple of quick questions.

1: Should I / need to, recharge the desiccant plug before I place the camera in action?

2: Reading through the manual, there is no mention of a dummy plug like there was in the ST camera series. Is there no dummy plug to install during the recharge operation? Would the dummy plug from the ST cameras work?

    Thanks, Carl.

    Hi Carl,
    1. The desiccant is fresh and ready to go. No need to recharge it unless you find it is loose due to shipping vibration.
    2. No dummy plug is shipped with the camera. You can tape over the hole to keep dust out, or you can purchase a spare plug, and that way you can bake the spare and swap it in.
If you have a need for a spare, you can find them here:

Being a CMOS device, it does not need cooling that is as aggressive as CCDs, due to inherently lower dark current and read noise.
