The camera was running fine last week, I was using it w/ NINA and PHD2, no issues. At some point it stopped responding and I couldn't get it reconnected in any software, including CCDOps. Got an error message in PHD2 with the number 27 referenced. There is a good chance I inadvertently hot-plugged the filter wheel I2C cable because I'm absent minded. I've plugged it into multiple USB ports on 3 different computers and can't get Windows to recognize a device. The cable works fine. I updated the drivers using the DriverChecker just before last using the camera. I unplugged the board today to have a look. I2C and USB connect on the same board and there are 2 fuses (elsewhere in the forum 3 fuses are described). I don't have soldering equipment, but can take this to my local computer repair shop. Are these likely to be 2-Amp 0603 SMD fuses? I see no descriptive markings. Thanks for any help. -Heather
I'll ask my colleague @Tim to assist. Error 27 likely means the operating system is unable to talk to the camera. Are you getting a yellow exclamation point /!\ warning beside a device in the Device Manager?
If nothing appears at all in the Device Manager, the USB chipset is likely corrupted or not functional. There are 3 fuses on the I2C interface card, 2 on the top, and 1 on the bottom. If you remove the 2 hex screws for the serial connector, you will be able to unplug the card from the main board. Though, this would only affect accessories. If there is no USB device detected, that is a mainboard issue. We do have some replacements in stock if you would like to send it in for service. To send it in, please submit the following RMA contact form to begin the return process. Once I receive the submission, I can provide you with an RMA number and return instructions: http://diffractionlimited.com/request-rma
Thank you Colin and Tim. The camera powers up (fan is working), but it does not appear at all in the device manager. I will submit and RMA asap.
