Note to mods: I couldn't figure out why you needed my actual birthdate for me to sign up for an account, so I made one up. If this is a violation of the rules, please let me know.

I have an old STL-11000 that powered up last month, but will not power up now. I know I probably need to send it in, but what I'd like to know is if it should power up immediately when the power cord is connected or whether it needs to see a connection attempt via USB before powering up.

    Thanks.

The USB cable has to be inserted into the camera and the computer needs to be booted up.

Thanks. It looks like my camera is dead, then. You've seen this camera before; I sent it in some years ago for a recall of some sort, and at that time you replaced some other internal electronics as well. What is the proper procedure for shipping the camera for repair?
