I recently purchased a used 11002. My problem is that I notice some banding in my images. I have attached an image of M51 that is a combination of 35 calibrated images. What is strange is that I don't see the banding in individual images but only once they are combined. I tried combining in both PixInsight and CCDstack but ended up with the same result. Any ideas?
Brian, This is a ccd characteristic discovered when SBIG went to the 11002 back in the day. Send me and email, bill@sbig.com, and I will send you the explanation given by former SBIG President, Alan Holmes. -Bill
from memory on my old STL standard auto dark, bias and flat field calibration of each image reduced similar effects but haven't seen it before on the STXL. Nice image still though Bob
