I was wondering if anyone is seeing blooming with their STXL 11002 camera? I know there was a fix reported in the past for 11000 camera where there was an "adjustment" to the ABG. I called Bill at SBIG and he checked with engineering and there is no adjustment for this camera. I'm using a fast scope (300mm f3.8) which leads to faster star saturation but I get blooming long before I have enough signal on my deep sky object for final images. I see very minor blooming beginning at 25 seconds while binned 1x1. It's acceptable but longer exposures quickly become unacceptable for producing "pretty pictures". I tried to upload a cropped image but I get and error. Here is a dropBox link to a cropped 1x1 luminance image at 200 seconds exposure. https://www.dropbox.com/s/21rhkshbwkix8hw/NGC281_L1x1-25W_200sCropBlooming.fit?dl=0 Robert Mueller
Sorry for using the wrong terminology. According to Bill no tweak is available on this model (self guiding). I guess what I'm trying to find out is this normal and expected behavior for this camera. Robert
Robert, There is some confusion because there is no recollection of the STXL-11002 being made with the built in, internal guider. Can you take a picture with the shutter of the camera open, looking down into the ccd chamber and either post it here or send it to me at bill@sbig.com please? Thanks, Bill
Bill, I'm imaging at the moment. This camera has the guide prism in the filterwheel. If you still need a picture I can do that first thing tomorrow. Thanks, Robert
I've looked up your serial number in our database and confirmed that your camera is NOT self-guiding. That fits with your report that the filter wheel is self-guiding.
Yes sorry for the confusion with my incorrect terminology. Bill is this something that you can service? Thanks, Robert
