The cooling fan on this camera currently runs at full speed. I noticed last night that the camera recommended a set temp of -10 and when I do that the power usage is about 14%. Assuming the same operating parameters, can I lower the fan speed and if so, how far? For example, do I lower the fan speed until the power usage is say 25% or 50%? Or can I lower the fan speed with no affect on the power usage up to a point? Guess what I'm asking is how much affect will the fan speed have on cooling if not pushing the camera the the maximum cooling temperature.

The idea here is to try and increase the life of the fan (which I am now replacing after 3 years due to a vibration issue) and to also minimize any vibration issues caused by the fan.

    Craig,

Have you ever disconnected the Flex Cable coming off of the Heat Sink?

Is that a feedback signal for auto changing the fan speed?

No, but if it breaks (which can happen if it isn't handled carefully) the fan will run at full speed. I think I misinterpreted your post. Sorry for the distraction.
