Hi folks 13 hours cumulative exposure (6 Ha, 7 OIII) taken with a CDK17, STXL11002 all AOX guided. The OIII data was pretty spectacular (FWHM 1.2 - 1.5) which allowed me to tease out such fine detail in the 'Helmet'. https://www.martinpughastrophotography.space/thors-helmet thanks for checking it out. cheers Martin
Superb! Am jealous! Take a look at Robert Schaeffer's effort - a much more humble setup, and he's learning.
to: Martin Pugh , 'I don't know if I seen an image of Thor's Helmut that looked that good before … what are the length of the exposures and the approximate Gain of the CCD ? … I have DSLR's so it would be ISO '.
Thanks Robert I use a different style of imaging to you such that ISO values are not used in astronomical cameras. Whilst SBIG camers have a gain, it is set, and not adjustable like it is in a QHY camera for example. My NB subs are 30 mins or 1 hour, depending on the target, all guided with an Adaptive Optics unit. Keep up the good work. Cheers Martin
