    Hi,

I would like to use the MGEN guiding and dithering controlled by MaxIm DL. APT is able to handle it. I think it would help a lot of MGEN and MaxIm DL users if this function would be available soon.
USB Documentation for MGEN is available and could be delivered.

    Best regards
    Horst

MGEN is one of the most sold standalone guiders in Europe, Japan is starting. More than 3.000 Units are sold.
APT, backyardEos, backyardNikon, Prism should not be the only packages to integrate MGEN
MaxIm DL as one of the market leaders should also be interested to support it I hope.

    Best regards
    Horst

MGEN2 Maxim is using RS232 and not USB like APT. It is obviously only an interim solution and is not running under control of MaxImDL. I talked with the manufacturer and provider of MGEN. They would also prefer a USB Plugin controlled by MaxIm and would provide the USB documentation.

I can establish a link if somebody is interested to develop the plugin

    The company website is

Our plug-in API is readily available. They can also write an ASCOM compliant driver. Really no reason why the manufacturer wouldn't provide this.

Doug, this MGEN looks a lot like a re-invented ST-V.

No, the SG-4 is a standalone autoguider.
