I have a SBIG CFW-8A filter wheel connected to a SBIG ST-10XME CCD camera. When the camera power is switched on, the filter wheel does move through a complete cycle of the filters. That observation suggests to me that the cable connecting the filter wheel to the camera is operating properly and that the filter wheel is functioning.

I am able to connect to this camera system using MaxIm DL version 6.17. However, when I ask MaxIm to take an image with different filters, the filters do not move even though MaxIm thinks it has changed filters and takes an exposure. The fits header then shows incorrect filter values.

I am running on windows 7 computer.

I have updated the sbig driver to version 4.99 build 3.

    Any suggestions?

It could possibly have been damaged by hot-plugging (plugging in the connector with the power on). That can damage the camera I2C port or the filter wheel. The wheel would still initialize (because it does that when powered up), but the camera wouldn't be able to send commands.

    I'd suggest you contact service - bill@sbig.com
