I have an SBIG ST-9XME which failed to power up tonight. The power supply seems to be OK (at least the light on it comes on), but the power LED on the ST-9 does not. Are there any tips as to where to start looking for a failure within the CCD electronics? (Please note that the power supply will be checked more thoroughly when I can get around to it.) Regards, Paddy McGee
Best thing to do if it is not powering on is contact Bill Lynch and send it in for service. ---- Bill Lynch – SBIG Service & Repair Center 3769 Constellation Road, Unit D Lompoc, CA 93436 Bill Lynch – email Phone: (805) 308-6979
Paddy, A good first check - Try another USB cable or a different USB port on the computer. If the USB cable is bad (or not plugged in to the camera or if the computer is not turned on) the camera will appear to be dead. -Bill
Bill, You've hit the nail on the head. The USB cable had become unplugged, and it had been so long since I had unplugged the camera that I had forgotten that it needed to have the USB cable plugged in for the camera to show any sign of life. So- having reconnected the USB cable before applying power, all is now good... Thanks for the advice! Regards, Paddy
