I just purchased a STF 8300M when ever I establish a connection I see the red LED on the back flicker and I hear a noise that matches the LED flicker. Its very loud finally figured out it was the shutter hitting the stop pin, its almost like a stutter. Is this normal? This is my first SBIG camera so I have nothing to compare it to.

    Thanks

What you describe sounds exactly like what my ST-8300M does at startup, it is probably normal. First time I powered up my camera it scared me to death, I thought something was arcing inside.

It's normal! I hear it also when I power it up. Pretty loud clacking noise
    that you'll get used to.

Yes, it's normal by hardware design. Do not worry.

Worry if you don't see and hear that :)
