I'm not quite sure where to post this, but my STT3200 camera's cool is turning off (seemingly) randomly during (photometric) time series imaging during the night. I turn the coolers back on, but they may turn off again a few hours later. I am using MaxIm DL 6.11, ACP, Scheduler, Clarity, APCC. I am not sure what log files to look at or where to start investigating the problem. This problem has just started in the last few weeks. Nothing has changed in that time. Your assistance would be appreciated. Incidentally, I tried to post on MaxIm but apparently I don't have post privileges (even though I am registered). Thanks Peter
For MaxIm DL please see http://forum.diffractionlimited.com/pages/TechSupportHowTo/ The usual cause of the camera turning off the cooler is an undervoltage situation. Are you using the power brick that came with the camera? Are you using an extension cable?
Thanks for your reply. Yes I'm using the power brick that came with the camera (bought 6/2013). The brick sits between the "forks" of the AP1600 and the output cable from the brick runs through the mount to the camera. There is a conventional extension cord running from the power outlet at the base of the mount to the brick. Output unloaded voltage at the camera end of the output cable is 11.9V. Thanks Peter
Hmm... I wonder what the voltage is when it's loaded. Try a bit lower cooler power and see if it still happens. (No that's not a long-term solution but we're just trying to figure it out here...)
Hi Doug, May have found the solution. I sprayed antioxidant on the power connector. For last nights run the camera did not turn off. A few more nights will tell. Thanks Peter
