I just received my Aluma 8300 with SC2 and FW8S filter wheel. After I assembled it per the instructions and placed all my filters in. I powered up the unit and all the fans and filter wheel initialized.

    Using Maxim DL version 6.24
    Camera Driver -DL Imaging
    Filter Driver - DL Imaging+FW

When I connected the filter wheel in Maxim DL it initialized but did not center on the shutter it was slightly off.
When I attempted a test exposure the error message I received was waiting for Filter Wheel. The Filter Wheel never moved. I powered off the units and verified all connections and re-powered on. Same result.

When I selected "no filters" in MaxIM DL and I attempt to take a image I get the message "waiting for trigger". When I unplug the filter wheel from the Aluma 8300 the camera works normally. I am able to observe the shutter moving and the images are downloading.

Is there a Firmware update for the filter wheel? I looked at all the connections and they all appear ok.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Check the connector - make sure you didn't bend a pin plugging it into the camera.

I even plugged it into the other connector same result. FYI this is brand new I just received it and unboxed it last night.

one other thing when I go to the expose tab after the FW is connected and I select the drop down for the filter and I select Luminance or another filter...the filter wheel starts to turn similar to when it initializes but the filter it lands on is random and is not centered.

Hi Kevin, here's a couple of other ideas.
MaxIm is up to 6.26. Help... Check for Updates

Have you checked that you have the latest firmware in the Aluma 8300 and the SC-2 ?
    https://diffractionlimited.com/aluma-fpga-firmware/
Sometimes a new release may have come out since the hardware was manufactured.

    Driver versions?
    Latest 1.9.4.0 is here:
    https://diffractionlimited.com/down/SetupDLAPI.exe
Latest ASCOM is here (not needed for MaxIm):
    https://diffractionlimited.com/down/DLImagingASCOMDriverInstaller.exe

Have you enabled Threading in MaxIm ?
    threading.png

Make sure that Camera 1 has the litle * in the list of the cameras.
Camera Control Window, Camera 1, Setup, Advanced...
This will bring up a DL config screen.
There should be a list with the AL8300 and the SC1300 in there.
Double click the Aluma. Then a * should show up beside it.

The repeat for Camera 2, making sure Camera 2 has the * beside the SC1300 camera.

Can you send us the serial number of the camera, fw, and SC-2, when and where you bought it ?
(Send it to me via Send a Private Message under my photo).

Can you also send the MaxIm log? It will be a file like 2020-12-02.log found somewhere like:
    C:\Users\Kevin\Documents\MaxIm DL 6\Log
    or
    C:\Users\Kevin\Documents\MaxIm DL 6\Settings\Log

Thanks - we'll carry on with the PM, and post the final resolution here.
I've sent the log to our development manager for feedback.

It appears to be working now. The actuator arm just needed to be put back on its track.
    Thank you
