Hello, As the topic states, I need help. I'm trying to capture Sh2-308 aka The Dolphin Head Nebula. I captured 30x600s subs and after processing I can't get the nebula to show. I see just 1 little piece of it when I run the blue way up almost to it's peak. Can my STF-8300c capture this nebula? I'm going to try with 900s subs and 1200s subs. I would appreciate any help and suggestions. Thanks. Jeff
This object is mostly visible around 656nm, H II, the red part of the spectrum. What were you using for filters and scope? eg your background sky may not be dark enough. Also, the KAF-8300 colour sensor has about 27% QE at 650nm, so longer exposures, more aperture will help. Perhaps you could post a sample raw unprocessed FITS image and I could see if I can tease anything out of it.
Colin, I have uploaded all my subs and calibration master to my dropbox. the zip file can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wqj1b6gn9x258ya/Sh2-308.zip?dl=0 Thank you for checking. Jeff
