    Hi Colin,

This has been going for a while now. You can get the previous discussion and images posted earlier in the thread.

The mount has regular maintenance. But it's also very old (a Paramount ME), that has never been back to Bisque).

I'm suspecting that there are two issues, one in the AO and one in the mount.

    Update:

After doing all sorts of controls, trying to isolate the issue, we have found the following:

    1. When using my STX-16803, STX guider and AO, the stars are badly streaked.

    2. When I take the AO out of the stack, the stars are elongated, but not badly streaked.

    3. When I substituted a different STX-16803, without the AO, the stars are round.

I strongly suspect two issues, in some combination of camera, guider and AO. It seems, surprisingly, that the mount is not to problem.

I would like to return the AO, the STX guider and the camera for examination and repair.

How can we get this done?

    Thanks.

    Mark

Can you provide details explaining the tests done and sample images for each of the above?
We'd want to see how much the stars out of round.
Elongated stars in any case usually means mount or guiding problems, or you have something wrong optically or a mechanical tilt somewhere in the setup.
Once we have that, I'll send an RMA form to you to arrange sending the hardware in.
