Updated June 2, 2022 Massive thunderstorms / derecho on May 21, 2022 caused widespread damage in the Ottawa area, knocking out power to half the city. A broad area of the city was hit by winds equivalent to an EF-2 tornado. Our office is in the middle of the worst-hit area. After 12 days with no power, Hydro Ottawa replaced a broken transformer on the power pole in front of the building. As of 8:35 pm, power has been fully restored. Operations Status We have restored almost all systems to full function. Please note that most shipments due over the last two weeks have been delayed. We will work to clear the backlog over the next two weeks. Thank you for your patience. Doug
We were very lucky none of the falling trees hit our building. Damage in the area is extensive. Here's the back parking lot...
Meanwhile, here's some info from CBC News, showing Merivale road which is a couple blocks from the office: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/storm-damage-ice-tornado-power-grid-ottawa-1.6463247 We're working remotely as best we are able. Hopefully everything will be back to normal in a few days.
Additional photos. We were incredibly lucky - there are two trees that could have done extensive damage if they had fallen in the wrong direction.
